Central Oregon’s First Youth Psychiatric Facility Breaks Ground This Summer in Redmond
Construction is set to begin this summer on a 15-bed youth psychiatric facility in Redmond — the first of its kind in Central Oregon — allowing young people in crisis to receive inpatient care close to home rather than being transported far from their families and communities. Deschutes County commissioners received a project update this week, with county Health Services Director Holly Harris confirming that approximately $8 million in state and federal funding has been secured to get construction underway. The facility will be located adjacent to a new 16-bed secure residential treatment facility for adults along Canal Boulevard — near St. Charles Redmond and the county Behavioral Health clinic — with Jackson House’s Headwaters Behavioral Health serving as the operator. The primary population served will be youth ages 12 to 17 requiring sub-acute care in a secure setting, with services including medication management, group and individual therapy, and family therapy.
