Fauntleroy Ferry Terminal Trestle Replacement Underway — Critical Link for West Seattle, Vashon Island, and Kitsap Peninsula
Washington State Ferries has launched the SR 160 Fauntleroy Terminal Trestle and Transfer Span Replacement project, replacing the aging terminal infrastructure that serves one of the most heavily used ferry routes in the state — connecting West Seattle, Vashon Island, and the Kitsap Peninsula. The project is part of Washington State Ferries’ broader effort to modernize its fleet and terminals as it works toward a hybrid-electric future by 2040 — a program that will require significant construction work at ferry terminals throughout the Puget Sound system over the next 15 years. The Fauntleroy terminal serves thousands of daily commuters and is a critical link in the Puget Sound transportation network, making its modernization both an urgent infrastructure priority and a significant opportunity for marine and waterfront contractors in the region. WSDOT has flagged this project as one of its key major capital investments currently in active delivery.
