Kaiser Permanente Breaks Ground on Oregon’s First Fully Electric Hospital in Clackamas

Kaiser Permanente has officially broken ground on a new hospital tower at Sunnyside Medical Center in Clackamas — a landmark project that will become Oregon’s first fully electric and sustainable hospital when it opens in 2029. The groundbreaking ceremony on April 2nd drew regional leaders, elected officials, and community members to celebrate the milestone. During peak construction, the project is expected to employ more than 600 local tradespeople, providing a significant boost to the regional construction economy. When the tower opens, the existing hospital building is slated to be replaced with additional parking, walkways, and outdoor spaces.
