Oregon Just Made Using a Fake CCB Number a Felony

Oregon raised the stakes dramatically for CCB number fraud in 2026. Under HB 4089, intentionally using another contractor’s CCB number without authorization — or using any CCB number with intent to deceive the public — is now a Class C felony, upgraded from a Class A misdemeanor. The law takes effect January 1, 2027, giving contractors, homeowners, and subcontractors in Oregon a new level of legal protection against fraudulent operators — and a serious warning to anyone misrepresenting their license on contracts, estimates, or advertising.
