Oregon’s 2025 Structural & Mechanical Codes Now Mandatory — 2022 Codes Officially Phased Out

The 2025 Oregon Structural Specialty Code and 2025 Oregon Mechanical Specialty Code became fully mandatory on April 1, 2026, ending the six-month phase-in period that began October 1, 2025 — meaning all new residential and commercial building permit applications submitted in Oregon must now comply with the updated 2025 codes. Contractors and builders who have been using the 2022 codes during the transition period need to act immediately to ensure their plans, specifications, and construction practices are fully aligned with the new standards, as any permit applications submitted after April 1 that reference the old codes will be rejected.
