Port of Astoria’s $26M+ Pier 2 West Rehabilitation Moving Forward in 2026 — Bids Also Open for Pier 3 Boatyard

After years of planning, funding challenges, and a search for an environmental mitigation site, the Port of Astoria’s Pier 2 West Rehabilitation Project is advancing in 2026 — backed by a $25 million grant from the U.S. Maritime Administration and $1.2 million from Business Oregon, the state’s economic development agency, secured in 2023. Engineers have already completed emergency repairs on the most critical areas of the deteriorating pier, and mitigation approvals are now in place, clearing the way for full construction to proceed. Separately, the Port of Astoria opened bidding on April 13, 2026 for improvements to the Haul Out Piers at its Pier 3 Boatyard, with a bid submission deadline of May 19, 2026 — an immediate opportunity for qualified marine and waterfront contractors. Between the two projects, the Port of Astoria is shaping up to be one of the most active construction sites on the entire Oregon coast this year.
