Portland’s Broadway Streetscape Project Resumes July 23 — Bike Lane Separators and Planters Coming to NW/SW Corridor Through September

Construction on Portland’s NW/SW Broadway Streetscape Improvements project is set to resume Thursday, July 23, and continue through early September, with crews installing concrete traffic separators along the northbound bike lane and planters in the southbound bike lane buffer between NW Glisan and SW Ankeny streets — with a final phase planned between SW Yamhill and SW Clay streets in August and early September. Travelers should expect intermittent detours for northbound bicyclists and drivers, parking restrictions, and lane closures — with detours expected for 12 days over six weeks when crews work on the east side of Broadway, routing northbound bicyclists to SW Harvey Milk Street, NW 6th Avenue, and NW Hoyt Street. The overall Broadway corridor project is expected to be completed by September 2026, closing out a significant streetscape investment in one of downtown Portland’s most commercially active corridors. For contractors coordinating deliveries or subcontractor access on projects in the NW and SW Broadway area, intermittent closures and parking restrictions will require careful scheduling through the summer.
