Sale of Former Yakima Hospital Campus Completes, Clearing Way for Assisted Living Facility
The sale of the former Astria Regional Medical Center campus in Yakima to Trouvés Health Care Corp. has been completed, and construction of a new assisted living facility and other medical services could begin soon, according to Hogback Development, which sold the property. Hogback managing partner Chris Waddle said the company completed the sale of the vacant hospital building, and Trouvés said construction will begin as soon as possible.
Hogback Development bought the entire Astria campus in December 2020 and had maintained the vacant, roughly 290,000-square-foot hospital building for more than five years. As part of the broader redevelopment, Hogback previously donated the former Elizabeth Hospital school building along West Chestnut Avenue to the YWCA for use as a new domestic violence emergency shelter. Trouvés said areas of future interest for the site include emergency medicine, nuclear medicine, and a Certified Nurse Assistant school.
Why this matters for contractors: This is a large adaptive-reuse opportunity in Yakima, a 290,000-square-foot former hospital building converting to assisted living and other medical uses. Contractors with healthcare and senior-living renovation experience should watch for Trouvés’ contractor selection process as the project moves toward construction.
