The Hub Is Almost Here — Redmond’s 56,000 SF Aquatics & Recreation Center Set to Open This Summer

After years of anticipation and construction, the Redmond Area Park and Recreation District’s Hub Aquatic and Recreation Center is on track to open in summer 2026 — a landmark moment for a city that has grown from 6,500 residents when its only public pool opened in 1979 to more than 52,000 today. The 56,000-square-foot facility is part of a $195 million bond that also includes remodeling every library in Deschutes County and constructing a new Central Library on Bend’s east side. When The Hub opens, the aging Cascade Swim Center — which currently has wait lists for all swim lessons — will close to the public, with The Hub taking over all aquatic programming for the region. The Hub sits at the center of a broader Redmond renaissance, with the city currently in the middle of a five-year, $172 million Capital Improvement Plan.
