Washington Regulators Want Your Input Before the Sept. 29 Safety Meeting

Washington’s Department of Labor & Industries is preparing for a hybrid Construction Advisory Committee meeting on September 29, and the agency is actively soliciting agenda suggestions from the industry — a genuine, if narrow, window for contractors and workers to shape what state regulators focus on next.

The advisory committee brings together state regulators, business leaders, and labor representatives to hash out safety standards and operational efficiency issues across Washington’s building industry. Anyone with an agenda item to submit needed to get it to program organizer Kylie Gillihan by close of business August 25 — a deadline that’s already passed as of this writing, which makes the meeting itself the next point of engagement. Members of the public can still attend the hybrid session to hear what made the cut and weigh in during public comment.

For an industry that spends a lot of energy reacting to safety and licensing rules after they’re finalized, this is a useful reminder that the front door — advisory committee input — is open earlier and more often than most contractors realize.
