Westport Marina’s 40-Year-Old Dock System Gets Long-Overdue Overhaul — Construction on Float 21 Now Underway

The Westport Marina — the largest and busiest fishing center in Washington, anchoring more than 2,700 seafood industry jobs in Grays Harbor County — is in the midst of a multi-phase dock modernization project that will replace infrastructure that has been in operation for roughly 40 years. The Port completed its Marina Modernization Plan in 2022, which lays out a phased approach to design, engineering, and permitting for each dock replacement, and construction on Float 21 is now targeted for 2025 or 2026 as the first major dock phase gets underway. Preparatory projects including dredging, bathrooms and showers, and an enhanced boat launch plaza have been completed in prior years, setting the stage for the core dock work to begin. For marine and waterfront contractors in Washington, the Westport Marina modernization represents a multi-year pipeline of work in one of the state’s most economically vital coastal facilities.
