WSDOT Launches Major Summer Construction Season on the Olympic Peninsula — Expect Delays on US 101, US 12, and Aberdeen Bridges

Contractors and travelers heading to Washington’s Pacific coast this summer should plan for significant construction activity across the Olympic Peninsula, as WSDOT kicks off a busy 2026 construction season on multiple highway corridors. Projects include US 101 pavement replacement between Ocean Beach Road in Hoquiam and the Jefferson County line, a grid deck replacement on the eastbound US 12 Heron Street Bridge in Aberdeen with extended around-the-clock closures, and repairs to major mechanical parts of the westbound US 12 Wishkah River Bridge. Additional work is underway on State Routes 104, 109, 112, and 116, creating multiple active work zones with reduced speeds and lane shifts throughout the region. For NW contractors active in Grays Harbor, Jefferson, or Clallam counties, WSDOT’s online Olympic Peninsula construction open house provides project-by-project detail on timing and traffic impacts.
