WSDOT Opens the Door on Puget Sound’s Upcoming Transportation Bid Pipeline

Contractors, subcontractors, and consultants with an eye on upcoming Puget Sound transportation work have a date to circle: WSDOT’s annual Construction & Design Open House runs from 5 to 7 p.m. on October 13 at the department’s Northwest Region headquarters in Shoreline.

These open houses tend to be undersold as news, but they’re one of the more useful low-cost opportunities in the public works calendar — a chance to see what’s coming down the pipeline before it hits formal bid solicitation, ask questions directly of WSDOT project staff, and get a read on scope and timeline before competitors do. For firms trying to plan out 2027 bidding strategy amid a market where, as Washington’s own employment data shows, growth is moderate but steady, early visibility into the public works pipeline is worth the drive to Shoreline.
